The launch of Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader was not very smooth.
Although Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader is now actively praised, the release version caused some discontent. In a recent conversation with PCGamesN, the producer of Owlcat Games explained why the game was released in this state.
Anatoly Shestov said that the team shortly before the release faced a choice - either sacrifice content and immersion of players in the project, or Rogue Trader will be released with bugs:
«We were more ambitious than was possible [in the case of Rogue Trader], and that is why we released the game not in the best condition - not because we wanted to save on testing. No. A few months before the release, we decided that the fourth chapter needed to be redone. Usually, within a full development cycle, such things are not done, but the choice was to release something with fewer bugs or less immersion potential, with fewer "burning" moments. We, as a studio, decided to go [with more bugs]»
