The launch of Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader was not very smooth.
Although Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader is now actively praised, the release version caused some discontent. During a recent conversation with PCGamesN, the producer of Owlcat Games explained why the game was released in this state.
Anatoly Shestov said that the team shortly before the release was faced with a choice - either sacrifice content and immersion of players in the project, or Rogue Trader will be released with bugs:
«We were more ambitious than it was possible [in the case of Rogue Trader], and that is why we released the game not in the best condition - not because we wanted to save on testing. No. A few months before the release, we decided that the fourth chapter needed to be redone. Usually, within a full development cycle, such things are not done, but the choice was to release something with fewer bugs or less immersion potential, with fewer "burning" moments. We, as a studio, decided to go [with more bugs]»
