The focus is on the Silent Hill: Townfall project from Screen Burn studio (formerly No Code). According to rumors, the game will be released in 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and will offer a collection of short ghost stories. The main difference is the absence of combat, weapons and the usual inventory. This bold decision immediately caused controversy among fans of the series.
Townfall is described as an anthology of short episodes set in a small coastal town unrelated to Silent Hill. The common element will be the local beach area. Instead of fighting, players will have to run away from spirits, explore the environment and immerse themselves in psychological horror with cinematic presentation, screamers and elements of investigation. The format resembles P.T., but also echoes the unsuccessful The Short Message.
Many praise Konami for its courage, but some fans consider the idea a betrayal of the series' roots. Others see it as a chance to update the brand, as a remake of the first part is being prepared in parallel and the classic-spirited Silent Hill f is being developed.
