The original creative vision clashed with an antagonist that became smarter.
Although the horror game Alien Isolation is praised by many players, they also note that the game feels drawn out.
Recently, one of the writers explained how this happened. It turns out that the culprit is the Xenomorph's overly intelligent AI.
Dion Lay explained that the monster's AI was refined during development, and at first, the length of Alien Isolation seemed optimal. However, when the AI was improved, it turned out that the playthrough took significantly longer.
Dion now wouldn't mind shortening the script:
“At the time, the game didn’t seem that long...So yes, I would definitely shorten it. But back then, there were times when we thought: \"We can’t cut this out now, it will affect everything else.\"”
