Not everyone believes that artificial intelligence will be able to radically change what is happening in the industry.
Recently, Elon Musk announced the "first game created by artificial intelligence from start to finish."
Larian Studios Publishing Director Michael Douse reacted to this and shared his vision — he believes that AI will not help solve the problems of the gaming industry:
"In fact, this industry needs not so much mathematically verified, psychologically developed gameplay loops, but rather the presentation of worlds that people are interested in or want to interact with. AI has a place as a tool, but all the tools in the world do not compensate for the incredible lack of a compelling direction. AI will not solve the main problem of the industry — the lack of leadership and vision."
Michael believes that after the collapse of retail, publishers and developers did not build relationships with their audience and lost them:
"It has turned into a game of headless chickens rushing to the profit and loss statement. AI will not solve this problem. Those who succeed are those who build something for people."
He thinks that "….Without the human touch, there can be no creation [...] Turning games into digital, emotionless content means abandoning all the resonance [of emotions experienced by the player]... and that's what people play for!"
