The game's success has not affected Iron Gate's approach to work organization.
Representatives from Automaton Japan spoke with Jonathan Smårs, lead engineer and game designer at Iron Gate.
The developer explained why they decided not to expand the Iron Gate team:
«We are often asked why we don't hire more staff. Our team members work like close friends, and this allows us to focus on creating something great. I think many players appreciate that we stick to the \"good old\" approach to development and the vision of the game, and we have managed to build a very healthy relationship with our community».
The team is not worried about the growing number of Valheim's competitors in the "survival" genre:
«I am glad to see that other games are following our example. Moreover, I hope that we can share with others what worked in Valheim. If we share experiences between developers, the "survival" genre will develop as a whole, which will ultimately benefit us».
