The number of problems for fans of unfair play continues to increase.

Riot Games has introduced a new League of Legends development diary dedicated to combating smurfing — when experienced players switch to new accounts to play against beginners and less experienced opponents.

Over the next few months, the developers of League of Legends intend to tighten penalties for botting and smurfing:

«Starting with update 25.18, we banned 400,000 purchased accounts that were used in ranked games, as well as 1.5 million sold accounts controlled by bots and another 2.5 million accounts put up for sale».

With the help of Vanguard anti-cheat data, the account owner is identified — in case of violation, the punishment will be extended to all accounts, i.e. it will not be easy to switch to another account:

«This means that a player who spoils your game will not be able to simply log back in and continue trolling: the punishment and subsequent escalations will affect all of his accounts».
