The developers of the cooperative action game R.E.P.O. have announced a major "monster update" that should drastically change the atmosphere and make the game a "real horror."
In a video diary, the team shared the process of creating new creatures. According to the developers, they will be the main focus of the update, which will be released on October 30.
"The most difficult thing is not just to come up with something interesting, but to make it engaging for a long time. We don't want R.E.P.O. to become a streamer game where you meet a monster once, and then it's not scary anymore."
Although the video did not show new creatures, viewers noticed a terrifying creature resembling a giant centipede on one of the monitors. The main focus of the video is on the atmosphere and approach to enemy design.
"I hope players will feel that we have infused fresh blood. These are not old enemies in a new guise, but an update that will revitalize the entire game cycle," said semiwork co-CEO Axel Landén.
Another developer added that REPO will now "be a real horror - stronger than before."
