Pokémon Pokopia is one of the most unusual upcoming projects in the Pokémon universe. The game is scheduled for 2026 and will be released on Nintendo Switch 2. Judging by early materials, this is a spin-off where the player creates their own region in the world of Pokémon, rather than exploring a ready-made one.
But now it has become known that the history of Pokopia began much earlier than expected.
According to the latest leaks, the project was originally created for the first Nintendo Switch. According to data from "Teraleak", development started back in 2021 under the working title Oasis. The game was conceived as a spiritual continuation of Pokémon: Let’s Go with a top-down view and Pokémon Home support, but was closed before moving into an active stage.
Later, Game Freak returned to the idea under the new code name MegaOasis, adapting it for Switch 2. At the same time, they retained the concept of creating their own region, but strengthened the scale and visual component. Omega Force, known for the Warriors Orochi and Hyrule Warriors series, is responsible for the development. It looks like Pokopia has come a long way and will become one of the most experimental Pokémon spin-offs.
