Some players dislike the anti-cheat and blame it for the shooter's poor performance.
Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani continues to communicate with the community in the Helldivers 2 Discord* channel.
He was recently asked about GameGuard anti-cheat — players believe it negatively impacts performance and feel it's not really needed in PvE games.
Initially, Jorjani responded:
«People who use cheats ruin game sessions for other gamers. We constantly receive complaints about this.»
Then another user joined the discussion and wondered if there was an alternative to the anti-cheat currently used in Helldivers 2 — he believes its GameGuard effectiveness is questionable:
«Isn't there an alternative to GameGuard?... it's incredibly invasive and has a history of seriously impacting the performance of other games, which could exacerbate HD2's already serious problems. And it doesn't stop cheaters. I still encounter them from time to time. I'm not saying "don't use anti-cheat", but I am absolutely saying that, in my opinion, the particular anti-cheat you decided to use at Arrowhead is likely doing far more harm than good...»
The creator of Helldivers 2 responded:
«I hear you. We're looking into it. Let's just release this patch first, and then we'll deal with this other head of the hydra.»
Now players are speculating that the use of GameGuard may be abandoned in the future.
