Ninja Gaiden 4 demonstrates how the technical aspect of a modern action game depends on the platform and selected settings. Digital Foundry noted that the game did not become the graphic peak of the series but shows stable performance and provides recommendations for optimal smoothness and visuals.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X, three graphics modes balance between quality and smoothness: the 30 fps mode disappoints with unstable frame pacing and visual impression; 60 fps provides an optimal balance, although drops are noticeable during complex battles; 120 fps is extremely smooth but reduces graphics quality. Xbox Series X slightly outperforms the base PS5, and PS5 Pro with VRR and unlocked frame rate reaches 80–100 fps, making the 120 fps mode optional.
On Xbox Series S, there are "Performance" and "Quality" modes. The first stably maintains 60 fps, sacrificing textures and SSR and Motion Blur effects; the second rarely exceeds 30 fps. Even with limitations, Series S provides a satisfactory experience in performance mode.
On PC, the game is fully revealed with suitable hardware: there are no drops or frame time issues. There is support for ultrawide monitors. On Steam Deck, the frame rate is limited to 30 fps, but with manual graphics settings, the result is close to the console version, approximately 720p.
Digital Foundry emphasizes that Ninja Gaiden 4 maintains smooth and engaging gameplay, with a high-quality soundtrack and dynamics.
