Enthusiast Develops VR Port of Star Wars: KOTOR - Gameplay Footage Released

While the fate of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake remains uncertain, one fan decided not to wait for news and started working on their own VR version of the game.

Reddit user BearableBastard showcased the progress on an unofficial VR port of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, created on Unity. In its current state, a playable prologue is already available.

According to the author, the project has made significant progress in recent months. The main difficulty remains animations and the correct reproduction of NPC movements without visual distortions. Nevertheless, the published videos show that the combat system has already been adapted for VR.

Originally, KOTOR used a turn-based system with command-based controls. In the VR version, the lightsaber is controlled directly: the player can swing it manually and deflect blaster shots. Force abilities are also demonstrated. Their selection is made through a menu, after which the abilities are used in combat, for example, an opponent can be thrown back with a gesture.

The official Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was announced back in 2021, but the project has not appeared in the public eye since then. Rumors say that it has not been canceled and continues to be developed within Saber Interactive.
