Various technologies were used to create the extraction shooter.
The extraction shooter ARC Raiders from Embark Studios was recently launched. Players on the Steam page noticed a warning that AI was used in the work:
In the development process, we may use procedural and AI-based tools to create content. In all such cases, the final product reflects the creativity and self-expression of our development team.
In a conversation with PCGamesN, design director Virgil Watkins stated that they do not use generative AI and there is actually no generative content in the game:
There is no generative AI used in ARC Raiders at all. We use something called machine learning, or reinforcement learning, and it's responsible for the movement of our big multi-legged drones, but there's no generative content there
ARC Raiders also has text-to-speech technology to create new lines:
[this is] the same as in The Finals: we use the same text-to-voice model. That is, we contract voice actors — it's part of their contract that we use AI for this purpose, and it allows us to do, for example, our ping system [signals], which can pronounce every item name, every location name, and direction on the compass. That's how we can achieve this without human assistance every time we create a new item for the game
