Konami has responded to player criticism and released a major update for Silent Hill f, adding a casual difficulty level.
The mode is designed for those who have difficulty with the combat system or the pace of the game. Players can select Casual at the start of a new game or in New Game+, and those who played on Story level or higher will be able to unlock it after several Game Overs.
The update also includes an option to skip individual episodes in New Game+. After completing the "Go through the door" task, the player will be offered to skip part of the sequence and immediately get to the moment when Hinako wakes up in the Dark Shrine corridor. At the same time, items from the skipped areas are lost, and some achievements (Thankful to Be Here, Clear Skies) will not be unlocked, but this does not affect the endings.
The developers also improved the balance: Hinako's stamina now recovers faster, the number of optional battles has been reduced, and there are fewer enemies in the locations. On Hard difficulty, the heroine takes less damage, and her lines after the victory sound more natural.
The update makes the game more accessible, preserving the atmosphere and tension of the original, but reduces frustration for players who have encountered excessive difficulty.
