James Cameron will once again test the endurance of viewers in cinemas.
According to AMC Theatres, the duration of "Avatar: Fire and Ash" will be 3 hours and 15 minutes, making it the longest project in the "Avatar" universe. For comparison, the second part, "The Way of Water," lasted 3 hours and 12 minutes.
James Cameron previously noted that he was not going to reduce the timing for the sake of the format, since the story of Pandora is "too large for the standard framework." According to the director, the third part was decided to be expanded after it turned out during the editing of "Avatar 2" that too many ideas and storylines had accumulated in the first half of the script:
"The film was rushing like a high-speed train, and we weren’t delving deep enough into the characters."
The world premiere of "Avatar: Fire and Ash" will take place on December 19. The film will be the third part of the saga about Pandora and, according to the director, "the most emotionally rich and visually ambitious" of all.
