After 17 years of waiting, Bethesda seems to have corrected the mistake with the disappointing collector's edition of Fallout 3, releasing a "fully functional" Pip-Boy replica for $299.99. The device works and can be worn on the arm.
This is the first "accurate, wearable, and fully working 1:1 replica of the Pip-Boy 3000," as seen in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.
Bethesda has been trying to realize this idea for many years. In 2008, the collector's edition of Fallout 3 included a Pip-Boy that was more of a digital desk clock than a real accessory, and it quickly drained its batteries.
The market for Fallout collectibles reached a low point after the "offensive" collector's edition of Fallout 76, but the dream of a Pip-Boy did not disappear: first there was The Wand Company's modular kit to assemble your own Pip-Boy from Fallout 76, then a $200 replica similar to the one used in the TV series.
The new version is similar in functionality and quality to the television version, but stylistically it repeats the one in the game.
