Some PC versions of games don't run very well, and Alice is no exception.
Recently, PC gamers remembered Alice Madness Returns again. A modder named Wemino introduced the unofficial "MadnessPatch" on GitHub, which aims to fix many of the game's PC port issues.
Some changes and improvements:
- Correct subtitle font scaling (removes the 720p limit)
- Fixed numerous physics and gameplay issues that occurred at high frame rates (FPS)
- Fixes crashes and infinite loading
- Forced loading of high-resolution textures (usually the game would load blurry textures first, and then sharpen them as you got closer)
Before / After
- Disable mouse and gamepad acceleration
- Adapt the game for wide monitors
Before and After on a 21:9 monitor
- Skip cutscenes by pressing Enter instead of jump (spacebar)
- You can enable windowed mode instead of full screen
- Disables old Unreal Engine 3 driver "hacks" intended for very old video cards (before 2010): "These hacks can slow down modern video cards by forcing the game to use outdated rendering methods. Disabling these methods allows the game to run more efficiently on modern hardware."
