Unreal Engine 5.7 is now available to game developers. Epic has demonstrated the new version of its technology in a fresh video showcasing the capabilities of the tools included in the suite.
Epic praises faster procedural environment generation, convenient creation and modification of trees and vegetation, as well as Nanite Foliage, an extended version of Nanite for vegetation, which should solve problems with the level of detail of trees. For developers, this means more options for modifying 3D models of objects directly in the UE 5.7 editor.
The question arises: how will all this work on consoles and weak PCs?
Unreal Engine 5 is criticized for the high demands of Lumen and Nanite. In 2025, there were releases of games on UE5 with serious graphic problems, mainly with performance. An example of successful optimization is ARC Raiders, but high performance there is achieved by abandoning the key features of the Epic engine.
