Community feedback is taken into account when working on the game.
The authors of the Gothic remake presented a development diary dedicated to the combat system and published several examples of character movements. Some elements have been changed since August, and new animations have appeared.
The developers listed the changes:
- The duration of the animation for preparing for battle has been reduced; a slight delay before the attack has been eliminated.
- Combos only trigger when the correct attack button is pressed
- At levels higher than "untrained," it is now possible to interrupt preparation or recovery after a strike by dodging or blocking.
- It is now possible to dodge while blocking.
- The target capture camera has been improved and now focuses better on the opponent
- The hero no longer slides during an attack, correct animation added
- "Finishing blows" have appeared, which complete the combo chain and can knock the opponent off their feet.
- Some specific attacks will be able to knock the hero off their feet.
- A new set of animations has been added for the two-handed sword master
The creators of the remake clarified that work on AI and combat is ongoing. For example, they are currently studying which attacks can be blocked and which cannot.
The release of the Gothic remake is expected in the first quarter of 2026.
