Thanks to the Unreal Engine 5, developers have gained many new opportunities.
CDPR recently discussed the results of the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 with investors. They received a question from a BNP Paribas representative:
Do you expect the next games in The Witcher trilogy to be released with a shorter and more predictable development cycle?
The moderator of the discussion replied:
In a sense, yes – I really believe that the next two games should be released in a shorter time frame, because, as we have stated before, our plan remains the same: to release the entire trilogy within six years. This means that we plan to reduce the gaps between the releases of Witcher 4 and 5, 5 and 6, and so on.
He noted that CDPR is proud of the results of their work with the UE5 engine:
We have been using Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4 for almost five years now and are very pleased with the results achieved. I think you may have already seen some of it yourself in the tech demo that we presented at Unreal Fest a couple of months ago. We've talked about this before, but I'm happy to repeat it again: we like how the engine is evolving thanks to the efforts of the Epic team and how we are learning to use it within a large-scale open-world game, which is what The Witcher 4 was intended to be.
