Daniel Radcliffe passed the baton to the new performer of the role of Harry Potter.
Dominic McLaughlin, who will play Harry Potter in the upcoming HBO series, spoke about the moment he received a letter from Daniel Radcliffe. According to the actor, the message was handed to him on the train on the way home to Glasgow.
In an interview with the BBC program Saturday Mash-Up! Live, McLaughlin noted that he was surprised by the signature "Dan R." at the end of the letter, but tried to remain calm, as he was in a public place.
"My father patted me on the shoulder and just handed me an envelope. I read the letter, got to the end and saw the signature 'Dan R.'. I went crazy, but I had to keep myself in check - after all, I was on the train."
Earlier, Daniel Radcliffe himself said that he did write McLaughlin a few warm lines, wishing him "a wonderful time" on the set. Thus, he symbolically passed the baton to a new generation of actors.
Speaking about working on the project, McLaughlin noted that the filming is going "amazing": "Everything is going amazing, very well. I've made friends with everyone, and I'm incredibly happy to be part of this team".
Production of the series started in the summer. More than 32,000 children auditioned for the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. As a result, the casting was completed in favor of Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton. HBO is positioning the project as a full-scale экранизацию of J.K. Rowling's books: each season will be dedicated to one book, which will allow including scenes and storylines that were not included in the original films.
The premiere of the first season is scheduled for 2027.
