The head of inXile Entertainment studio, Brian Fargo, called the role-playing project Clockwork Revolution "the most challenging game" he has ever worked on. The complexity is due to the deep elaboration of characters, the reactivity of the world, and the plot, which reacts to the player's actions.
Creating characters that really matters, the reactivity of the world and its harshness, as well as manifestations of our black humor — this is just a small fragment of the world, mechanics and wild characters that you will encounter.
Game director Chad Moore added that the project will be even more reactive compared to other RPGs, including the possibility of time travel and changing history, which creates new consequences for the player.
We are making it harder for ourselves by taking visual reactivity to a new level and allowing players to rewrite the past with choices.
Fargo also emphasized that the game is aimed at true RPG fans:
It was important for us to appeal directly to true role-playing fans and show what this game is. We slow down the events for a moment, let the dialogues "breathe" and demonstrate the work of the systems. The scene with Alfie is not just dramatic, it sets the tone. The game can be brutal — not only in combat, but also in the consequences of your decisions. It's not just about cutscenes, but about a deep, reactive RPG that we love to create and that our players are waiting for.
Clockwork Revolution is being developed for PC and Xbox Series X/S, and is expected to be released in 2026.
