NeoBards does not rule out continuing cooperation with Konami after Silent Hill f, but intends to combine work with publishers and the development of its own ideas.
In a recent interview with DualShockers, NeoBards studio talked about the projects they are currently working on, as well as the directions they are considering after the release of Silent Hill f.
According to NeoBards CEO Jean-Marc Morel, the company is already working on several projects in parallel and is not going to be limited to one genre or format. The studio employs about 250 people, and offices are located in Taipei and Suzhou, which allows supporting two or three projects simultaneously. As before, NeoBards continues to cooperate with major publishers, acting as an external developer and technical partner.
At the same time, the studio emphasizes that it is important for them not only to work with other people's franchises, but also to gradually develop their own ideas. The name NeoBards, according to the developers, reflects this desire — to tell new stories.
Since we are not funded by some big company or major publisher, we fund ourselves. Therefore, of course, we will continue to work with other publishers, making games together. We have a couple of projects that are already in development, but we are starting to tell new stories.
Separately, the team noted the experience of working on Silent Hill f. Despite the fact that the game became the first horror project in the history of NeoBards, the developers consider the genre promising for themselves. The studio admits that the second project in the horror genre could be even stronger — thanks to the accumulated experience and a better understanding of working with dense narrative and atmosphere.
NeoBards does not make direct announcements about the continuation of Silent Hill or new horror games. However, the developers do not hide their desire to continue working in this direction. The possibility of further cooperation with Konami is also not excluded, but the final decision will depend on Konami itself, which indicates the absence of any agreements reached at the moment.
I'm not saying that we will work on, say, Silent Hill G or something like that, but, Konami, if you hear me... It would be nice to work in the same genre in which we were able to achieve success with our first project. Personally, I think that the second game of the team usually turns out to be especially strong, because you already use the experience gained during the creation of the first one. We would love to do something like that again. But again — it's all in the future; let's see how it all turns out. And at the moment, since we already have a good foundation thanks to this game, we would definitely like to continue working in this genre.
