The Alpha Touch team continues to revive classic shooters on Android.
The Alpha Touch application now supports Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, the classic first-person shooter released on PC in 2002. Update 2.0.1 allows the game to run natively on Android without using Windows emulators.
Allied Assault support is implemented through the OpenMoHAA engine, ensuring stable performance even on weaker devices. Reddit users note acceptable performance even on budget-level chips like the Unisoc T606.
To run Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, a licensed copy of the game is required. The developers recommend the War Chest edition from GOG, which includes the base campaign and two expansions — Spearhead and Breakthrough. After installation, the data must be manually copied to the Alpha Touch folder. Separate directories are used for each campaign: "main" for the main game, "mainta" for Spearhead, and "main tt" for Breakthrough.
The project authors have also published recommendations for reducing micro-freezes. Due to the large number of individual audio and video files, the game may lag when loading them. The solution is to pack the sound and video folders into a single archive "pak8.pk3", which the engine then processes as a single resource. Detailed instructions are available on the project's official website.
In addition to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Alpha Touch already supports seven classic shooters, including Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, and Blake Stone. The list of compatible games is planned to be expanded in the future.
