Some made an unexpected discovery and began to resent it.
It's not just representatives of the gaming industry who sometimes oppose AI tools. Gamers also occasionally attack projects and their developers if they find out about the "AI trace."
For some, it became a discovery in December 2025 that the authors of the sensational Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which received many awards at The Game Awards 2025, also used generative AI during development.
The developers themselves confirmed the use of AI in one of the interviews, and earlier users noted some elements clearly made with AI (they were subsequently removed with patches).
Now activists and various users are calling the game a "slop." This usually refers to low-quality projects, but in certain communities, any project that has used AI in any way is dubbed "neuroslop."
Developers are being urged to update the page on Steam and add a mention of the use of AI.
