Elon Musk's xAI officially enters the video game market, announcing the creation of its own studio and the recruitment of developers for AI-generated games.
This is Musk's first ambitious step towards commercial entertainment products, and he promises the release of the first game by the end of 2026.
The xAI studio offers a completely new vision of game design: instead of traditional scenarios and levels, worlds, characters, and dialogues will be created on the fly using AI models such as Grok. The vacancy for "video game tutors" indicates a reward of $45 to $100 per hour. Specialists will train Grok, test prototypes, and evaluate game mechanics generated by AI.
Previously, Grok demonstrated the ability to create simple arcade games in Python, such as Tetris. "World models" are also being developed that can simulate physical 3D environments with minimal human involvement. Musk emphasizes that the goal is to return "greatness" to games and create experiences unavailable through traditional methods.
The industry is reacting with mixed feelings: some see a chance for small teams, while others warn that algorithms will not replace the author's vision and emotional depth.
