In Crimson Desert, Boss Battles Will Force Players to Change Tactics
As the release of Crimson Desert approaches, the developers are revealing details about the game, including the importance of boss battles.
A studio representative said in an interview:
Boss battles play a key role in shaping intensity, variety, and a sense of progression. For example, Stegelord, a huge deer-like boss, is so large that grappling and wrestling techniques don't work. You have to rely on precise timing and movements to dodge powerful attacks.
In contrast, the Stone Crab Queen requires the use of mechanics and the environment to break through defenses, showing how different bosses encourage different strategic approaches. These encounters are not isolated episodes; they embody the Crimson Desert combat philosophy: reading patterns, adapting abilities, and using the environment.
The combat design inherited elements from the MMORPG Black Desert Online, but in Crimson Desert, the system has become more cinematic and tactile. Players have access to a wide arsenal of techniques, weapons, wrestling moves, as well as timed dodges and parries to create their own fighting style.
