Resident Evil Requiem Game Director Compares the Game to Sushi and Assures It Won't Repeat Resident Evil 6's Mistakes
Players are worried that Requiem will be too diverse.
Resident Evil Requiem Game Director Koshi Nakanishi commented on fan concerns regarding the variety of gameplay styles and potential problems familiar from Resident Evil 6. According to him, the new installment in the series will not repeat the controversial decisions of the past, and Capcom's idea is much more refined — so much so that he compared it to the invention of sushi.
Nakanishi explained that players often want only one thing: either "pure action" or "classic horror." He used a metaphor: if sushi didn't exist, some would prefer to eat only rice, while others would prefer only raw fish. The idea of combining them might cause confusion for both sides. However, it is the combination of the two ingredients that creates something greater.
According to the creator, Resident Evil Requiem is built on the same principle. Even if a player thinks that only one style is closer to them, the real "taste" of the game is revealed in their combination.
