Viewers will see not only a retelling of the original books, but also new scenes that expand the history of minor characters.
In an interview with 1883 Magazine, actor Lox Pratt, who plays Draco Malfoy in the HBO "Harry Potter" series, said that already in the first season viewers will see the character in a home environment. According to him, this will allow to reveal the character of the character more deeply.
"With this adaptation, you will see much more than in the books. They mainly show events from over Harry's shoulder, and it worked great, as it did in the films. But Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod have repeatedly said in interviews that there is more space here. You will see teachers in their rooms, you will see Draco at home. I won't spoil it, but there are amazing scenes that help you understand what he really is."
Thus, the creators of the series intend to go beyond the book perspective and show not only the events at Hogwarts, but also the personal lives of minor characters - both students and teachers.
The actor's comments also indirectly explain the appearance of Lucius Malfoy already in the first season. In J.K. Rowling's books, the character first appears only in the second part.
The premiere of the "Harry Potter" series is scheduled for early 2027 on the HBO Max platform.
