Those who caught Fallout 76 version 1.0 will remember this adventure for a long time.
Todd Howard recently participated in the Kinda Funny Games podcast. During the conversation, the topic of Fallout 76 was touched upon: the interlocutor asked if he and Bethesda consider this game to be an excellent addition to the company's portfolio.
The developer recalled the problematic launch of Fallout 76:
It was difficult to launch the game at all, and the launch, let's be honest, was unsuccessful. And then it turned out to be even more difficult to pull it out of this state, and when it started to gain popularity again, to maintain this success. We are very lucky: the community around this game is simply amazing.
Todd Howard considers Fallout 76 a source of special pride — the game was difficult to develop, and its launch turned out to be an even more difficult task:
You know, there were a lot of people who wanted to play such a game. Of course, not every Fallout fan wanted this — given the history of the series and the fact that it has always been single-player. However, there were many who really wanted to play something like this, and they stayed with us. And, frankly, in many ways, this is probably the game I'm most proud of. Because it was terribly difficult to make, and then even more difficult to maintain so that it remained relevant.
He noted that there are few similar projects in the industry — many were launched and quickly disappeared, and "Fallout 76 is still here: with a large audience, excellent performance and still remains a significant game."
