After a long stint in early access, Phasmophobia 1.0 is finally ready for a full launch. Developer Kinetic Games has confirmed that the release will take place this year, promising the biggest update to the cooperative horror game.
The game started as a solo project by Daniel Knight in 2020 and has become a viral phenomenon, spawning the modern genre of cooperative investigative horror. After more than five years of patches and community feedback, the transition to version 1.0 is not just a change of number, but the completion of the journey from indie to genre leader.
Update 1.0 includes "Horror 2.0": new ghost models, hallucinations, and events capable of scaring even veterans. In the first quarter, a character update with appearance and animation customization will be released, as well as a transition to Unity 6 and a reworked network code for smooth gameplay.
A version for Switch 2 is also possible. With new maps like 6 Tanglewood Drive and seasonal events, Phasmophobia 1.0 promises to be the most ambitious horror experience for fans of the genre.
