Less than a year has passed since the arcade game's release. All players will receive refunds.
The multiplayer arcade game King of Meat from Amazon and studio Glowmade will be shut down less than a year after release. The developers announced that the game's servers will cease operations on April 9, 2026.
The project was first presented at Gamescom, where Geoff Keighley even appeared in the trailer. The game was positioned as a co-op platformer in which four friends take on medieval obstacle courses created by the community. In spirit, it was compared to a more "knightly" version of Fall Guys.
The release took place on October 2, 2025. However, the project never managed to attract a significant audience. According to SteamDB, the peak concurrent player count on Steam did not exceed 320 people — and even that figure was reached only a month after launch during a free weekend. At the moment, the 24-hour peak is just 10 players.
It was precisely the weak audience interest that led to the shutdown. The official statement says that, despite its creativity and innovations, the game "did not find the audience the developers had hoped for", and for that reason a decision was made to end investment in the project. Until the servers go offline, players will be able to use all available content.
The game has already been removed from sale in all digital stores. All users who purchased King of Meat — regardless of whether they paid the full $30 price or bought the game at a discount — will receive a full refund through the platforms where the purchase was made. In addition, microtransactions have been disabled in the project.
