"Harry Potter" fans can finally see what the new version of the story from HBO will look like.
HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery have revealed the first official details of the "Harry Potter" series. The first season is titled "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and, accordingly, repeats the events of the first book: Harry, who grew up in the Dursley family, learns about his origins and enters a school of witchcraft and wizardry, where he finds friends and faces a threat related to his past.
The series is scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2026, which contradicts previous statements by HBO chief Casey Bloys, who said that the project would be released in the first half of 2027. Apparently, the release has been moved to the Christmas period, traditionally associated with the franchise for many viewers.
Along with the announcement, the company showed a debut teaser, allowing viewers to appreciate the updated look of the franchise and meet the new performers of the main roles.
The video features Harry (Dominic McLaughlin), Ron (Alastair Stout), Hermione (Arabella Stanton), Draco Malfoy (Locks Pratt), Severus Snape (Paapa Essiedu), Rubeus Hagrid (Nick Frost), Professor McGonagall (Janet McTeer), and Hogwarts itself.
Francesca Gardiner is the showrunner, and Mark Mylod is directing. Both previously worked on "Succession". J.K. Rowling is involved in the project as an executive producer. The series is conceived as a long-term adaptation of the entire book series, designed for more than ten years.
