No Options: Everyone is Adopting AI - Even Capcom with Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata
The gaming industry is undergoing a quiet revolution that many companies prefer not to discuss due to player backlash. Official statements often distance themselves from controversial technologies, but reports from journalist Jason Schreier and Google executive Jack Buser paint a different picture.
According to them, almost every major studio is already using generative AI in production. A survey at last year's Gamescom showed that 9 out of 10 developers admit to using such tools. Buser claims that many popular games, long available on the market, were created with significant algorithmic support, but players were unaware of this.
The gap between marketing and actual development on this issue is noticeable. Take Capcom, for example: despite public statements about rejecting AI-generated content, the company was named one of the active users of Google's cloud AI tools.
Similar situations occurred with Larian Studios and Embark Studios – after criticism, they abandoned AI for concept art and voice acting. But the technology is already deeply embedded in processes, and it's almost impossible to completely abandon it. Cases like AI "placeholders" in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 confirm this.
Experts believe that as AI becomes standard, it will be increasingly difficult to recognize. If the entire industry switches to such solutions, player pressure will ease. Developers are increasingly not labeling AI content, avoiding unnecessary scandals – as a result, generative AI is becoming the invisible foundation of modern blockbusters.
