The animated series "Star Wars. Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter" has sparked a new wave of interest in the franchise.

In early April, the animated series "Star Wars. Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter" was released, quickly becoming a leader on Disney+ and receiving almost maximum ratings on Rotten Tomatoes: 98% from critics and 90% from viewers.

The project still tops the US chart and holds third place in the global ranking. Interestingly, against this backdrop, viewers have turned their attention to the most controversial "Star Wars" project in recent years — "The Acolyte."

"The Acolyte" was released in 2024 and received only 19% approval on Rotten Tomatoes, despite a high budget and a strong start in viewership. Subsequently, the series was canceled, and no continuation is planned. However, on the wave of success of the Darth Maul project, "The Acolyte" broke into the top 10 of the US Disney+ chart and currently occupies the ninth spot.

This does not mean that Disney will suddenly revive the project, but it shows how one successful release can boost less fortunate franchise siblings. For Disney, this is a good sign before the release of "The Mandalorian & Grogu," which will take place on May 22, 2026, and will be the first theatrical "Star Wars" release in seven years.
