Kenneth Branagh Would Like to Direct a Thor Film in the Vein of James Mangold's "Logan"
The director of the first "Thor" believes Chris Hemsworth's hero needs a special farewell story.
Kenneth Branagh stated that he would like to return to Thor and direct a final story for Chris Hemsworth's hero in the vein of James Mangold's "Logan". In a recent interview with Business Insider, the director of the first "Thor" admitted that he still feels a connection to the character and would like to "conclude the relationship" with him.
"I always wanted to do more, and I actually had some ideas in the vein of James Mangold's brilliant film 'Logan'. I would love for Chris Hemsworth and others to have their own final story that takes Thor into a glorious twilight."
Branagh also spoke positively about the subsequent installments of the series and called Taika Waititi's films "amazing". However, the director noted that he himself would have done everything differently. He also clarified the situation around "Thor 2: The Dark World", which was eventually directed by Alan Taylor. According to Branagh, he refused to work on the sequel only because he wanted to rest after the difficult production of the first film.
So far, Marvel has not confirmed the development of "Thor 5", despite various rumors online. It is only known that Chris Hemsworth's next appearance is expected in "Avengers: Doomsday", which will be released on December 18, 2026.
