A horror game about a writer was accidentally released on Steam - developers urge Valve to roll back the release
The developers planned to present a demo version of Last Draft, but pressed a different pretty button.
Last Draft was recently released on PC on Steam. Soon after, the METROPOLICE studio raised the alarm — the game was not yet ready for release.
The developers explained that they accidentally pressed the wrong button when releasing the demo version:
We messed up. We were going to release a demo for the Steam Next Fest, but by mistake, we released the full, final version of the game. Someone pressed a very pretty, but completely wrong button. With this announcement, we wanted to clarify the situation for those who are following the project or have already purchased the full version.
Currently, the creators of Last Draft are working closely with Valve to roll back the release and return the game's status to "coming soon" — the developers want to organize a full release with a marketing campaign. They do not plan to take the game away from buyers, and they have also allowed making videos and streaming it.
From a gameplay perspective, Last Draft is a horror simulator about a writer. According to the plot, the protagonist was given a strict 7-day deadline by the publisher — he must provide a finished draft or be fired. He goes to Blackwood Manor — among other writers, rumors circulate about this place as a cure for writer's block:
Sources of inspiration here are literal. Inside the mansion, there is a conduit to another reality. This is a reality that neither needs nor recognizes the freedom or autonomy of your world. Soon you will discover that the supposedly fictional chapters published by your colleagues are, in fact, a terrifying reality that you will have to experience during your stay at the manor.
