Official: The Witcher 3 to get third story expansion "Ballads of the Past" starring Geralt

CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed the rumors circulating online and announced the third major story expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled "Songs of the Past."

The project is being developed in close cooperation with Fool's Theory studio. The team largely consists of former CDPR employees and industry veterans who once contributed to the creation of the original game, and are currently also busy with a full remake of the first "Witcher" on Unreal Engine 5.

The main character of the upcoming DLC will once again be Geralt of Rivia, who will embark on an entirely new standalone adventure. The authors have not yet revealed any plot details, but promise to share the first details and a full showcase by the end of summer 2026.

The massive expansion is scheduled for release in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Given that "The Witcher 3" is also available on Nintendo Switch, it can be assumed that the expansion will be released later on Nintendo consoles.
