Former Employee Revealed the Cost of Creating Uncharted 4
The development of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End proved to be a difficult challenge for Naughty Dog. Former studio employees revealed that extensive overhauls during the game's creation led to the departure of many key developers.
Former studio designer Quentin Cobb shared the details in an interview with the KIWI TALKZ channel. According to him, this period was the most exhausting of his entire career. Workweeks of 60–80 hours were the norm, and during the most intense moments, employees spent over 100 hours in the office in 7 days.
The situation was complicated by reshuffles among project leaders, as well as the need to simultaneously work on the story campaign and multiplayer modes. After completing work on the story, some of the team were able to rest, but the developers of multiplayer and co-op immediately moved on to the next stage of production.
Cobb admitted that after the birth of his daughter, he reevaluated his attitude towards work. According to him, constant presence in the office and lack of time for family became one of the reasons for leaving the studio.
After the completion of support for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which, according to Cobb, was also created under difficult conditions, he left Los Angeles and Naughty Dog in 2017.
