The iconic "Sanitary Underworld" returns - Dmitry Puchkov and PushKeen are preparing a new comic book
The "Sanitary Underworld" franchise is still capable of generating interest.
In June 2026, gamers once again remembered the tactical role-playing game "Sanitary Underworld" (or Planet Alcatraz). A new comic book is in the works.
Earlier in June, PushKeen published a teaser:
You are about to witness one of the loudest releases! How many years has the domestic market been waiting for such a novelty? For us, as producers of creative industries, this will be a new step towards a wider audience. For you, it will be an evening with the thought that it was still possible, and someone did it... The generation that grew up in the 90s - 00s will definitely remember the iconic characters for them. And not only them. After all, the project was implemented jointly with a figure who has become truly iconic for our modern culture. There is not long to wait. Very soon.....
Now, the "Dvadtsat Vosmoy" community has announced an event and confirmed fans' assumption about the "figure" mentioned in that teaser. This is Russian blogger, writer, translator, and publicist Dmitry "Goblin" Puchkov.
On June 24, an autograph session will be held in St. Petersburg – a meeting with Puchkov will take place as part of the comic book presentation.
The release of the "Sanitary Underworld" comic book is expected "soon".
The events of the game "Sanitary Underworld" unfold on Matrosskaya Tishina – a prison-type planet where the most notorious recidivists are exiled. The main character's goal is to prevent the prisoners from escaping:
Capsules packed with zeks are dropped onto the planet from orbit, and no one cares if the furiously swearing cargo survives a hard landing [...] Fighters, you will soon visit a very glorious resort. We have learned that the zeks are planning an escape from Matrosskaya Tishina, and you must thwart their bold but naive plan. Let's not let the degraded scum pollute our native galaxy!
