Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Remaster Receives Major Update with Multiplayer and Balance Improvements - Thanks to Fan Support
Developers are studying feedback and continue to improve the strategy game.
In June, Relic Entertainment returned to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition. The creators of the updated real-time strategy game introduced a major update 2.9.0. The update primarily aims to improve multiplayer balance in the late game, and the developers noted that they continue to refine changes made for the early and mid-game:
Thanks to the passion and dedication of the community, we have been able to invest resources into creating a more balanced and stable multiplayer experience for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition. Updates 2.8.0 and 2.9.0 include balance changes, as well as improved detection and tracking of mod (and cheat) usage in matchmaking [automatch]. Starting with the release of update 2.9.0, new rules are being introduced to create a more level playing field for all players.
Developers will monitor and penalize for the following actions (only some points are listed below; these restrictions do not apply to custom games and replay viewing):
- Removing "fog of war" (map hack) — a cheat/mod that reveals the location of all enemy units on the map
- Maximum camera removal mods that allow seeing the map "significantly wider than intended." Developers have made technical changes, so starting with version 2.9.0, "loose file" mods will no longer affect the camera when playing in matchmaking.
If mods (cheats) are detected, the player may receive a ban in matchmaking (automatch): from 48 hours to a permanent block in case of repeated or serious violations.

The full description of update 2.9.0 for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition is available at the following link. Developers have adjusted the balance for different factions; for example, Necron Warriors will be slightly weaker in the early stages but will become stronger in the late game. The next update 2.10.0 is planned to be introduced in "the coming months."
