Media: Samsung Raises Memory Prices Again - PCs and Smartphones Under Threat

According to the South Korean publication ZDNET, Samsung is negotiating with customers about a new increase in DRAM prices. In the third quarter of 2026, the cost of so-called commodity DRAM could rise by up to 20% compared to the previous quarter.

This is a continuation of a series of increases: earlier, Samsung raised DRAM prices by 90% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the end of 2025, and then added another 50–60% in the second quarter. Now the company plans to continue price growth amid supply shortages.

The problem also affects LPDDR memory, which is used in smartphones, laptops, and mobile devices. Its cost may also increase by more than 20%.

The main factor remains demand from data centers and companies working with AI. Memory manufacturers are reallocating capacity to more profitable segments, causing consumer electronics to face rising costs. This could lead to higher prices for smartphones, laptops, PCs, portable devices, and consoles.

In the near future, the market will remain under pressure from rising prices for key components.
