"He's a real monster": Henry Cavill confirms lead role in Warhammer 40,000 series
The actor broke his silence and spoke about working on the adaptation with screenwriter Mike Flanagan.
Henry Cavill confirmed that Amazon's first live-action Warhammer 40,000 adaptation will be a series, and the actor himself will play the lead role. Which character he will play is still being kept a secret.
Cavill also revealed that screenwriter Mike Flanagan has been working with the team on the story for some time. According to the actor, significant progress has been made in developing the story:
"We're already working with him on the creative side and have made serious progress in developing the story. Some of you have asked if I'm still going to play the lead role in the series. Rest assured – absolutely yes! However, who my character will be remains a secret for now."
Cavill admitted that bringing such a massive universe to the screen would not be easy. However, Flanagan's involvement, in his opinion, helps give the project the right shape:
"As fans know, this is a real monster to contend with. But thanks to Mike's outstanding talent, it's taking shape beautifully. Together with Games Workshop, we are working tirelessly to create the most authentic and true-to-the-spirit-of-Warhammer adaptation imaginable for you."
Flanagan is known for the series "The Haunting of Hill House", "Midnight Mass", and "The Fall of the House of Usher". Games Workshop previously announced that the author had completed the initial story plan and moved on to writing the script. Media also reported that Flanagan expects to take on the roles of showrunner and director of the project. The series is still in the early stages of development, so its premiere may not take place for several years.
