"Looks amazing": Warner Bros. head saw first footage of "Superman" sequel
James Gunn spends 16-18 hours a day on the set of "Superman: Legacy."
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav saw the first footage from the set of "Superman: Legacy" and was pleased with James Gunn's work. The company head shared his impressions during a quarterly call with investors. According to Zaslav, the director continued to work even on his birthday:
"As for DC, James is focused on 'Superman: Legacy' right now. I saw some images yesterday – they looked amazing. By the way, yesterday was James's birthday, and he was still working. He spends 16-18 hours a day on set. Everything looks fantastic, and we are incredibly excited."
Gunn's busy schedule may explain why the director has been less active on social media lately and has not yet commented on the disappointing results of "Supergirl." However, Zaslav assured investors that Warner Bros. is pleased with the development of the cinematic universe: the studio is preparing an extensive lineup of projects, and the executive believes that everything looks "very good" for DC.
Zaslav also said that he recently discussed the continuation of "The Batman" with Robert Pattinson with Matt Reeves:
"I spoke with Matt Reeves over the weekend, and he's also working very hard on 'The Batman.'"
Filming for "Superman: Legacy" began in spring 2026. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will return as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult will once again play Lex Luthor, and Skyler Gisondo will play Jimmy Olsen.
"Superman: Legacy" will be released on July 9, 2027, and the premiere of "The Batman – Part II" is scheduled for February 18, 2028.
