New crowdfunding campaign for the board game Gothic: A Shadow's Quest starts in September

The board game Gothic: A Shadow's Quest has come back to life. In late September, THQ Nordic is set to launch a new campaign on the Gamefound crowdfunding platform, allowing users to pre-order a revamped version of the project.

Last year, a crowdfunding campaign for the board game Gothic: A Shadow's Quest, dedicated to the famous "Gothic" series universe, was held on the Gamefound platform.

Thanks to 1602 sponsors, the team managed to raise 166,390 euros (15,697,232 rubles) at that time. But then, due to a storm of criticism from fans and the board game community, THQ Nordic closed the fundraising.

The team canceled all transactions — no money was debited from backers — and then the project underwent a massive overhaul. The developers have already introduced a new class — the Fire Mage novice, rune magic, new events and mechanics, adjusted card design, and added many other significant changes.

Now it has become known that on September 30, a new crowdfunding campaign for the updated version of Gothic: A Shadow's Quest will begin on Gamefound. To celebrate the upcoming event, THQ Nordic has published a short trailer.

Soon, the team will move to the final development phase, where they will complete the creation of a new in-game campaign — with all NPCs and quests — and then subject everything to thorough testing to fine-tune the rules and balance. Only after that will they be finally approved.
