Did Game Pass "kill" Gears of War: E-Day sales? Analysts estimated the shooter's circulation

It is assumed that without Game Pass, the game could have shown higher sales.

The full release of Gears of War: E-Day recently took place. Analysts from Alinea Analytics decided to evaluate the sales of the new installment of the franchise during its first week.

According to experts, sales of the Steam version of Gears of War: E-Day could amount to about 168 thousand copies, while 62 thousand were sold in the Microsoft store (Xbox+PC), totaling 230 thousand copies.

At the same time, the game's revenue is estimated at 37 million dollars. This result was achieved thanks to upgrades to the premium edition — some Game Pass subscribers paid for it to get early access to the shooter.

Alinea Analytics believes that about 1.7 million users played Gears of War: E-Day through the Game Pass subscription. Of these, about 722 thousand bought the upgrade to the Premium Edition — it costs 30 dollars. As a result, paid early access helped earn about 21.7 million dollars.

Analysts believe that Game Pass had a significant impact on sales of the standard version of Gears of War: E-Day. Alinea Analytics thinks that if the game had not appeared on the subscription on release day, many of those who played it would have bought it for 70 dollars.
