The developers of the new installment in the Battlefield franchise are paying special attention to optimization issues.
Before the release of Battlefield 6, players had the opportunity to test the shooter in action, and the developers had the opportunity to collect data about the systems on which they play.
As it turned out, a "significant portion" of the millions of players launched the Battlefield 6 beta on systems that are close to the minimum system requirements.
In a conversation with Eurogamer, Christian Bull talked about how they approach game optimization. The team thought about optimizing Battlefield 6 for the largest number of possible systems at the initial stage of development, for example, after creating a map, specialists were connected to ensure performance at the location:
"We conducted a large analysis, tested the game on a wide range of equipment, both above and below the minimum and recommended specifications. We figured out what we can achieve, what we need to achieve from a business point of view, namely — to reach a wide audience on PC. This was extremely important."
During a conversation with comicbook, Bull mentioned another decision — they abandoned ray tracing for optimization for now. The technology will not be available at release, and there are no plans to add it in the near future.
