Battlefield 6 Developers Listened to the Community. The Game Will Feature "Eternal" Custom Servers and a Map Editor

In addition to the already appreciated gameplay changes shown in the beta, the developers have officially confirmed a feature that many have been waiting for. The updated Battlefield Portal will allow you to create custom servers for free, and they will no longer be disabled due to lack of players.

The information appeared in an article dedicated to the innovations of the Battlefield Portal mode. In Battlefield 2042, the system was criticized: the interface was inconvenient, and fan servers were turned off when activity was low. Now the situation will change.

"The ability to run your own perpetual servers is included in the cost of the game. They will always be displayed in the browser for quick access," the developers said. Projects selected by moderation will be additionally displayed on the main screen so that players can easily find interesting modes.

Improvements will also affect the editor: now it will allow not only setting rules, but also changing the interface, camera, and creating scripts for NPCs. The developers promise that users will be able to recreate modes from old parts, come up with new ones, or even turn the game, for example, into an isometric shooter.

A simplified map editor will also be available, with the ability to change objects and the geometry of the terrain.

The release of Battlefield 6 will take place on October 10, 2025 on PC (EA App, Microsoft Store, Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
