Accessory maker Genki has reached an agreement with Nintendo in a case the company filed against them in early 2025.
Prior to the official announcement of the Switch 2, Genki published the system's design several times. At CES 2025, the head of Genki personally showed journalists 3D-printed models of the console and gave interviews confirming details that Nintendo had not disclosed. The company also showed a 3D video featuring the Switch 2 and its logo. Later, the video appeared on Genki's official website.
Nintendo filed a lawsuit claiming that Genki "showed and advertised unauthorized mockups and renders of the Nintendo Switch 2 and accessories for it," and also infringed trademarks by using similar names — for example, the "Glitch 2" line of accessories.
Now the companies have reached an agreement. Genki will pay Nintendo compensation (the amount was not disclosed) and has agreed to refrain from using elements that may resemble Nintendo's intellectual property. Logos, trademarks, color schemes, and even phrases like "Glitch 2" are prohibited.
