This means that PlayStation and Xbox owners will be able to meet in the same lobby without the participation of PC players. This decision has long remained one of the most frequent requests from the community.
In an interview, technical director Christian Bull and senior console combat designer Matthew Nickerson clarified that the feature will be enabled by default. Players can disable it if they wish.
If cross-play is deactivated, the "consoles only" mode is automatically launched — only PlayStation and Xbox users participate in matches there. This will avoid battles with PC owners, who often have an advantage due to their equipment.
Nickerson added that the matchmaking system will primarily connect players on consoles with each other. Only after a while, if the team does not gather completely, PC users will join them — provided that cross-play is not turned off. According to the developers, this will provide flexibility and convenience on any platform.
