Forecasts indicate that the PC gaming market will grow by 35% in 2025, reaching $44.5 billion, despite inflation and tariffs. Windows 11 hardware requirements are driving mass purchases of new components. It is estimated that over 100 million gamers will need new processors to be compatible with Windows 11.
Considering the price increase of the Xbox Series X, PC remains the most affordable option, with the largest library of games — both old and new.
A study by Jon Peddie Research showed that the PC gaming market will include desktop and laptop PCs, DIY systems, and peripherals. The 35% growth is impressive, considering the impact of inflation and tariffs on gamers' ability to upgrade their PCs. The main reason for the growth is the mandatory transition to Windows 11: new processor requirements entail upgrades to memory and video cards.
The report also notes that most gamers are now buying pre-built PCs. For console players switching to PC, pre-built systems are the most convenient option.
At the same time, the entry-level PC gaming segment is expected to decline by 13% over 5 years, including 10 million players who will leave the market entirely, although some of them will switch to expensive builds.
